US voter systems vulnerable to breach

Issue No. 18 | September 16-30, 2016Photo(s): By SP Guide Pubns

After the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has alleged that there could be voter rigging, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has found it to be true. In Illinois and Arizona, the FBI said voter registration databases could be tampered with and has urged other states to tighten databases.

The FBI issued an alert on August 18 but did not identify the intruders. Yahoo News first reported the story. Though there is no report of tampering, US intelligence agencies are worried about hacking, after the Democratic party e-mails were out in the open, reportedly done by Russian hackers, said to be attempting to disrupt the presidential election. Russia has denied any involvement in this.
