The Government of India appoints Vice Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal V. R. Chaudhari as the next Chief of the Indian Air Force

Government of India has announced on September 21, 2021 the appointment of Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal V. R. Chaudhari as the next Chief of the Indian Air Force. He will assume charge after the retirement of Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria on September 30, 2021.

Air Marshal V. R. Chaudhari was commissioned into the Fighter stream of IAF on December 29, 1982 and has flying experience of more than 3,800 hrs on a wide variety of fighter and trainer aircraft, including missions flown during Operation Meghdoot and Operation Safed Sagar. He is an alumnus of the NDA and Defence Services Staff College. He has commanded a frontline fighter squadron and a fighter base. He has also held the key appointments of Deputy Chief of the Air Staff at Air HQ, Senior Air Staff Officer at the Eastern Air Command and the AOC-in-C of the Western Air Command.
